A consideration of the traffic survey by using location information of portable device and recognition of privacy

Abstract

Introduction of information and communication technology to traffic survey is associated with the risk of personal information, such as a monitor's attribute, their location information, transport usage record, and the surveillance by the third party. Therefore it can consider making increase of mental stress of the test subject who participates in the ICT- applied traffic survey. In order to introduce the new survey method, reservation of data security, reducing mental stress for participation, and to build a better investigation environment will be important elements. In this study, the questionnaire was carried out regarding the participating awareness for applying the new investigation, such like GPS and PHS, which can observe an individual's travel behavior in detail. And it was considered that the privacy protection methods were necessity technically and institutionally as a future investigation infrastructure.
