Abstract

A formula is used for the character of each finite-dimensional irreducible representation of the Lie superalgebra sl(m/n). This new formula appears to cover not only typical but also both singly and multiply atypical representations. A comparison is made with previous conjectures, and the problem of generalising the formula to cover all of the basic classical Lie superalgebras is discussed.
