Abstract

This paper presents a novel design of compact dual-polarized antenna incorporating an aperture-coupled annular ring patch antenna for left-handed circular polarization (LHCP) as well as a disk-loaded monopole vertical polarized (VP) antenna. Both antennas operate in the same frequency range from 2.320GHz to 2.345GHz, while CP antenna reveals good broadside radiation patterns and the VP antenna shows monopole-like radiation patterns, which ensures this antennas provide different polarizations to take advantage of the polarization diversity for Satellite Digital Audio Radio System. High isolation (<−50dB) between the two feeding ports for the entire impedance bandwidth of the proposed antennas is achieved. This type of antennas can be also used for compact diversity and multiple input multiple output (MIMO) application as well.
