Abstract

ABSTRACTAn unknown drug was seized from a suspicious person. The drug appeared to be an analogue of phenobarbital, which is restricted by drug control laws. The structure of the seized drug was elucidated using infrared (IR) spectrometry, electron impact (EI-) and fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry (FAB-MS), and proton and carbon magnetic resonance (1H- and 13C-NMR) spectroscopy; and was determined to be an unknown barbiturate designer drug.
