Abstract

This paper explores the role of strategic leadership in the perception of inequity in organizations across national cultures in times of organizational crises. A conceptual framework is developed which integrates the assumptions of charismatic leadership theory and equity theory in the context of individualistic and collectivistic cultures. In so doing, this paper develops propositions on the antecedents and consequences of the perception of inequity in organizations, examines the impact of strategic leadership in this context, and explores the role of culture as an important contingency of the model.
