Abstract

Results of crossbreeding experiments for milk production revealed that in an inter se-mated population of Karan Swiss cows, 305-days first lactation milk output of F 1, F 2 and F 3 progenies was 2690 ± 40, 2159 ± 55 and 2018 ± 43 kg, respectively. In F 2 and F 3 progeny milk yield registered a decline of 19·73 and 24·98%, respectively. First lactation milk output of 23% of F 2 and 33% of F 3 progeny was less than the herd average of their Zebu parental stock. With a view to improving the productivity of low producing inter se-mated cows a model was constructed.
