Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among social cognitive variables, subjective perception of leisure, and Subjective Well-Being (SWB). A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect the sampled data and 220 usable surveys were collected. Results from this study provide an.important contribution in the sense that social cognitive variables may have various effects on the individual’s SWB through subjective perception of leisure. Furthermore, these findings provide evidence that Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) is an appropriate framework for the study of leisure and SWB. The findings of this study established that internal social cognitive variables (i.e., psychological variables) might have a more significant impact on individuals’subjective perception of leisure than external social cognitive variables do. Psychological variables (e.g., intrinsic satisfaction and emotions) are one of the important factors in determining leisure/tourism destination choice. Thus, it may imply that tourism marketers need to focus on psychological variables for a destination decision-making process at the Jeonbuk region.
