Abstract
This study aimed to understand the father's perspective about the exercise of fatherhood with the child diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Therefore, a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study was proposed. The sample consisted of 15 fathers (men) who had a child up to six years old diagnosed with ASD. The data collection instrument was based on a semi-structured interview script, with 48 questions, of which only four were used for this cut. Data analysis occurred through content analysis with the creation of categories. The results showed that parents have a vision about good parenting that permeates providerism. ASD has a direct impact on men's emotions, which requires greater observations and understanding of feelings, so that they support effective fatherhood.
