Abstract
Estimation of the evidential value of transferred textile fibres depends largely on the availability of figures concerning the production and distribution of the source item. The question of whether it is feasible to estimate fibre frequencies within the fibre population in Germany, using a data bank compiled from the fibre composition of clothing supplied by mail order companies, has been examined in a three part project. Part 2 describes experiences gained during data collection, looks at the results of some selected enquiries and considers ways in which the available information may be increased in the future.
