Abstract

Abstract : This report documents a computer program that was developed locally to compute the average specific absorption rate (SAR) for any prolate spheroidal target. It was developed using equation 5.10 from the Radiofrequency Radiation Dosimetry Handbook (4th ed). The program, which is IBM-compatible, is capable of calculating the SAR during microwave radiation exposure for all model sizes ranging from a small mouse to a large human. This procedure removes the restriction of using the Radiofrequency Radiation Dosimetry Handbook, which is limited to only a single or, in some cases, a few sizes of spheroid models.
