Abstract

A practical management problem in water supply concerns the pumped transfer of water between several inteconnected reservoir systems under least energy and cost operation. A computer program has now been developed to provide a solution to the optimized scheduling of individual de-coupled systems. A comprehensive range of features are available for: entering system data, computing alternative schedules, and display of results. The program has been written for interactive operation, using the graphical facilities available on a range of microcomputers, and its operational value has been proven on an actual system.
