Abstract

This paper describes a general analysis for a cylindrical shell, simply supported at both ends and subjected to various kinds of surface loadings. Double Fourier expansion technique is employed to solve the shell equations and also to express the displacement and loading functions. The applications and validity of the analysis are shown by two examples, which show good results. A computer program for the analysis is also attached, which is capable of analysing a few loading cases at the same time.
