Abstract

The system of teaching financial literacy described in this paper has been developed by an undergraduate electrical engineering student. This system illustrates sophisticated economic concepts and the importance of household savings to people in developing countries. An undergraduate software engineering student has developed this system into a computer application to enhance and widen its usability, particularly with rural, subsistence farming communities. The computer application, which can be installed on both computers and smartphones, can be used by organizations that teach financial literacy in these communities.
