Abstract

P265 A COMPUTER ALGEBRA BASED 3D SEISMIC MODELLING SYSTEM FOR SIMPLE EARTH MODELS B.M. HARTLEY Abstract 1 This paper describes a simple but accurate system for producing synthetic seismic records based on the use of computer algebra. Expressions for travel times and offsets are calculated symbolically by computer algebra for a variety of ray paths through a three-layer Earth model with planar interfaces. The ray paths include surface peg-leg and inter-bed multiples. The expressions are output as C subroutines and used in a numerical calculation of travel times of rays for set values of offset after the Earth model parameters
