Abstract

Choerospondias axillaris is thought to be gaining popularity and economical significance, because of its nutritional and therapeutic values. This is because it contains bioactive compounds, such as polyphenols, which have a variety of therapeutic uses. Fruits, seeds, and bark are just a few of the parts of C. axillaris that can be used for both therapeutic and everyday needs. It is regarded as an underutilized fruit despite offering significant health, nutritional, and medicinal benefits. Numerous important studies have been conducted to assess the pharmacological and medicinal qualities of C. axillaris in various applications. In this review article, we discussed about the general characteristics of C. axillaris, as well as its nutritional and phytochemical properties, and therapeutic applications. In-depth research on the various potential properties of various parts of C. axillaris is compiled in this review, along with a summary of the key findings. The pharmacological and therapeutic usage of C. axillaris have been studied for a variety of potential biological properties, such as antimicrobial, antitumor, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, improved cardiac function, second degree burns treatment, immune boosting, improved haematological parameters, anti-angiogenesis, and antihyperlipidemic. This is the reason applications for the food and pharmaceutical industries can be made.
