Abstract

The latest draft standards from IEC and ASTM concerning P–P intensity probe qualification tests specify a standing wave test that addresses concerns for channel phase difference errors under reactive conditions. Two such errors are recognized, channel phase bias and back vent influences. The following analysis determines an expression for probe response, including both errors, when the probe is employed within a planar standing wave. This will lead to a better understanding of the test circumstances and may lead to generally applicable correction terms.
