Abstract

A 16-year-old boy was thrown from his pushbike by a car striking him from the rear. He had multiple thoracic spine fractures from T4 to T12 vertebrae without neurological deficit. Other injuries included multiple rib fractures with a haemopneumothorax and fractures of the left scapula, clavicle, ankle and iliac crest. The X-ray of the thoracic spine showed a loss of alignment of the spinal column at T5/6 with a sharp angulation of the body of T5 indicating a severe vertebral injury.
