Abstract

A per-phase equivalent circuit of a linear induction motor (LIM) with sheet secondary is developed with parameters derived from field analysis, taking the specific phenomena of longitudinal-end effect, transverse-edge effect, field diffusion in the secondary, and back-iron saturation into account. The results are applied to two single-sided LIMs, and their performance is predicted. Results from analyses are compared with those obtained from tests.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
