Abstract

The kinetics of the replacement of chloride trans to diethylsulphide in [Pt(SEt 2)Cl 3] − by a variety of amines have been studied in methanol at 30 °C. The reverse reaction has been studied with 3-chloropyridine as leaving group. The rate constants are compared with those of the corresponding reactions of the dimethylsulphide analogue. In general, the Et 2S complexes are more reactive but the reactivity ratio depends upon the nature of the complex and of the entering group.
