Abstract

Practical problems arising from recent decisions of the Supreme Court of the United States relative to racial segregation in the public schools have focused, attention on the need for valid data concerning pertinent characteristics of white and Negro personnel. The present paper, in distinction from three preceding studies (1, 2, 3) in a projected series, deals with a comparison of certain measures of school morale among white and Negro high students in a large Southeastern system. An attempt will be made to relate the findings in the present study to those obtained in the three preceding studies.
