Abstract
On the basis of a color of clothes, we analyzed a psychological/a sensibility factor of a person, and studied the relationship between consciousness of wearer and phenomenon of wearing clothes both in Japan and Korea. The Koreans tended to wear clothes in high chroma, whereas the Japanese those in low chroma. They made a great difference in consciousness related to self-revelation, expectation for approval by others, and self-expression with clothes. The color of their wearing clothes in high chroma in Korea seems to be related to strong exhibitionism expressing their personality. On the other hand, the Japanese tend to wear subdued clothes in the low value and chroma, so that they might not stand out or give impact on others, because they have the strong senses of willingness to be accepted by the society, society model characteristics to mind how another person looks, and group model characteristics to want to be the same as others. Through this research, we were able to connect a color of clothes with fashion awareness.
