Abstract

The angle resolved photoemission spectra of Cu and Ni taken for hv=16.9 and 40.8 eV exhibit very similar features, suggesting that band theory is working as well for Ni as it is for Cu. No evidence is seen for the 0.6 eV exchange splitting of Ni. The broader Ni spectra can be explained by residual final state effects.
