Abstract

Based on the phase centre approximation (PCA), the imagery of the multireceiver synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) can be converted to the data processing of the monostatic SAS. When it comes to the monostatic conversion, there are two methods, i.e. the conversion in the 2-D space domain and that in the Doppler domain. This paper summarizes two preprocessing methods. Then, the simulations with the uniform and nonuniform sampling cases are used to demonstrate both preprocessing methods. The imaging results show that the preprocessing in the Doppler domain can be widely used as the imaging performance is superior to that with the preprocessing in the 2-D space domain.
