Abstract

Abstract The results of a site investigation carried out in 1982 at a site in London Clay are summarised. A number of screw plate and pressuremeter tests have since been carried out, and the screw plate test and the methods of analysis adopted are described. The objectives of the 1982 investigation are reviewed and it is shown from comparison of the two sets of results that whilst these were achieved by methods recommended in BS 5930, the same answers could also have been provided by a site investigation designed around the screw plate test apparatus.
