Abstract

The inelasticities for multiple ionization of He, Ne, and Ar in single collisions with 10 MeV C projectiles obtained recently with a high resolution magnetic spectrometry are compared with inelasticities, calculated from single electron ionization probabilities and an independent electron model. For this calculation a formula for the energy differential multielectron ionization probability based on the energy differential single electron ionization probability is derived. The inelasticities obtained from inserting the ionization electron spectra calculated with SCA into the formula compares reasonably well with the data.
