Abstract

In the present study we compare the cytotoxicity of undoped and doped surface modified CaS nanoparticles synthesized by wet chemical co-precipitation technique using L929 human fibroblasts cell lines. The toxicity was determined by evaluating the cell viability and changes in cell morphology. In addition, the half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) values for all the samples were also compared. This analysis shows that undoped and terbium doped TEOA capped CaS nanoparticles are more biocompatible and will be better candidates for various applications in the biomedical field.
