Abstract

The Importance of Distributed Generations (DGs) in the distribution network is significant because of the motivation to move towards green energy. The best suitable placed DG in the distribution network provides more reliable, energy-efficient, and improved power quality of supply to meet the increasing load power demand. To get such benefits with an improved voltage profile, DGs should be placed and sized optimally. In this paper voltage profile improvement with optimal placement and sizing of three DGs is presented using four different metaheuristic techniques i.e.; Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Teaching Learning Based Optimization (TLBO), Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO), and Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA). A Comparison for active power loss reduction from these optimization algorithms is presented. In this paper, standard IEEE 33 bus radial distribution network configuration is considered for analysis, and simulation results are verified using MATLAB software.
