Abstract

A comparison was made between acutely depressed patients ( N = 24) and acutely ill panic patients ( N = 88) for differences in DSM-III personality disorders. Three standardized measures of DSM-III personality disorders were used—the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire (PDQ), Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory (MCMI), and the Structured Interview for DMS-III Personality Disorders (SIDF). Significantly more personality disorders were found overall and for DSM-III Cluster B and C personality disorders for the depressed group. Some subtle differences were found between those diagnosed histrionic in the depressed and those diagnosed histrionic in the panic group.
