Abstract

Two current-mode analogue circuits for use in convolutional decoders and Viterbi detectors in digital magnetic disk-drives are described and compared. The circuits operate in excess of 100 MHz and consume less than 4 mW per state with 2.8 V supply rails when realised in 0.8 /spl mu/m technology. Post-layout simulation results are presented.
