Abstract
The house-tree-person drawings of two groups of 10 year old children living in contrasting environments were compared. One group was from rural Ireland and the other from urban Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman. Both these sets of drawings were compared with those from Irish university students studying at Luton. Since there was more variation within each sample than between samples it was surmised that there is a prototypical house and tree and that the variations found in individual drawings are likely to be indicati ve of personality variables. This suggests that the house-tree-person test has validity as a projective technique.
