Abstract

The radiation performances of circular, bee-hived and rectangular array configurations are compared. The number of elements and their spacing's are assumed identical in all the three structures. The excitation of the array elements are determined by the invasive weed optimization algorithm to obtain the desired side lobe levels. Results show that unlike the rectangular array, the bee-hived and circular arrays have omnidirectional patterns in the horizontal plane. Furthermore, a comparison between the circular and bee-hived arrays shows that the bee-hived array has lower side lobe level, while the circular array gives more directivity.
