Abstract

This study is a comparative analysis on the cases of flat apartment block by Walter Gropius and Alvar Aalto constructed in Interbau Exhibition in Berlin Hansaviertel, an architectural event after the end of World War II. The cases, designed by two masters of modernism, are meaningful examples of a paradigm shift in collective housing planning when the architectural ideology for the mass production as well as aesthetic diversification with technological improvement was needed.
