Abstract

People with dementia dramatically have been increasing world-widely. Each country requires its own tailored National Dementia Plan following the specific needs of people living with dementia and their caregivers. The G8 Dementia Summit was held on 11 December 2013 in London and the G7 (except Russia) Dementia Summit was also held on November 2014 in Japan. G7 countries have strongly emphasized on establishing the national dementia plan globally, and OECD has also proposed the ten key objectives of dementia policy as following the condition progresses of people with dementia. We compared national dementia plans among G7 countries by OECD ten key objectives of dementia policy to implicate the results on development of new national dementia plan. We reviewed the national dementia plans and compensated the literature review by consulting international advisory committee. Some countries didn't have comprehensive national dementia plans. In that case, provincial plan was also included. After reclassifying national dementia plans of G7 and Korea in accordance with OECD ten key objectives of dementia policy, we found that the national dementia plans of G7 countries covers almost all of the ten key objectives. However, Key 5(safe and appropriate environment), key 8(death with dignity), key 10(technology to transform dementia care) was lacked in the policy of some countries.
