Abstract
In this paper, as an alternative to Space Time Block Code (STBC), Vertical Bell Lab Layered Space Time (V-BLAST) etc, a spatial modulation (SM) scheme with multiple active antennas, named as Multiple Active Spatial Modulation (MA-SM) is introduced. A system with minimum number of active transmit antennas is used to achieve high diversity, high transmission rate and multiplexing gain. The system is optimized by maximizing the inter-symbol distance and hence reduce the interchannel interference (ICI) and inter antenna interference (IAI). To reduce the decoding complexity, a near optimal maximum likelihood decoding is proposed. In this paper, a comparative study is made among the system Multiple Active Spatial modulation (MA-SM), Space Time Block Code (STBC), Vertical Bell Lab Layered Space Time (V-BLAST) and Generalized Spatial Modulation (GSM) based on the modulation schemes such as BPSK, 16-QAM etc.
