Abstract

Objective To study the job burn-out and mental health status of the comprehensive adminis-trative and law enforcement personnel, so as to provide psychological guidance to them. Methods 140 compre-hensive administrative and law enforcement officers(the study group) and 136 policemen(the control group) were selected randomly from the entire group in Shunde and were measured by Job Burnout Inventory (MBI-GS), SCL-90 and Defense style questionnaire(DSQ). Results All the factor scores of MBI-GS in study group were significantly higher than that of control group. In SCL-90, the total-score and factor score such as somzatization, depression, anx-iety and hostility in study group were significantly higher than that of control group. In the use of immature-defense mechanism,the score of projection, complain,withdrawn and somzatization in study group were higher than that of in control group, differences were significant. In the use of mature defense mechanism, the score of sublimation and humor were lower than the control group, differences were significant. And there are many different mechanisms in intermediate defense styles between two groups. Conclusion There were an obvious job burnout and mental health problems in study group, more use of the immature psychological defense mechanism, less use of the mature psycho-logical defense mechanism. It should be concerned about their job burnout and mental health conditions.
