Abstract

The quantity and chemical composition of oils from the aerial parts of Geranium macrorrhizum, L. and Geranium phaeum L., Geraniaceae were investigated. Plant parts were collected in the blooming stage and water-distilled and the oils obtained were analyzed using GC and GC/MS. Sixteen (G. macrorrhizum) and 21 constituents (G. phaeum) were identified in the oils, respectively. The main constituent of G. macrorrhizum oil was identified as germacrone (37.4% of total oil), while in G. phaeum oil piperitone (12.3%) could be designated as the most prominent one.
