Abstract

Three methods of consolidating stone have been compared using Maastricht limestone as the substrate. They are: impregnation with polymer (Paraloid B 72) from solution; impregnation with a mixture of monomers followed by (a) γ-ray polymerization or (b) free-radical initiated thermal polymerization. The best results were obtained with the third method.
