Abstract

Video is a media that is often used by humans for entertainment or learning. The video player application is used to play a video. In fact, many video player apps are in circulation today. Each of these applications has different qualities, both in terms of visual and in terms of audio. This study was conducted to determine the visual quality generated by frequently used video player applications such as KMP, GOM, MPC, and VLC. To measure the visual quality of the video can use the Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM). SSIM was chosen because it is more accurate, consistent and correlated with human visuals. The research stages begin with the process of video acquisition, video framing, capturing, and measurement. The results of this study show that KMP applications are able to provide better visual quality, where the application produces the highest overall SSIM average value of 0.99778. This result is an objective assessment that can be a recommendation for choosing a video player application.
