Abstract

Introduction: Nutritional status refers to the state of health of an individual as it is affected by the intake and utilization of nutrients. Nutrition during the first 6 years has an impact not only on growth and morbidity during childhood, but also acts as a determinant of nutritional status in adolescent and adulthood life. Objectives: To compare the Nutritional status, Immunization status and morbidity pattern of 0-6 years children attending ICDS Anganwadis and not attending ICDS Anganwadis. Also to access the KAP of mothers regarding services provided by ICDS centre. Methodology: A community based cross sectional study was conducted in Satara district of Maharashtra, India from May 2016- May 2017. A total of 500 children were studied, which had 250 of each group, those attending and not attending ICDS Anganwadi centres. The data was collected with the help of pre designed and pretested questionnaire containing the demographic profile, socioeconomic data, Immunization status, Nutritional status of the children. Physical and clinical examination, anthropometric measurement was done. Nutritional grading was done according to WHO growth charts.
