Abstract
Human body motions can have a significant impact on on-body electromagnetic (EM) wave propagations and affect wireless body area network (WBAN) applications. A dynamic human body phantom model is used to study the effects of human body motion on on-body antenna performance. A monopole and microstrip antenna are placed on the human body phantom model and on human volunteers and antenna transmission (|S 21 |) and reflection coefficients (|S 11 |) are analyzed, showing similarity between the phantom model and human measurement and allowing for comparison of monopole and microstrip antenna performance during motion.
