Abstract

Linear Control Schemes (LCS) and Non-Linear Control Schemes (NLCS) play a vital role in the Smart Grid System stability and control. The Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) is highly intermittent and nonlinear, therefore, our paper presents simulation analysis of NLCS on Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG). Moreover, this paper presents the robust NLCS for Induction Machines (IM). The different modeling assumptions used in robust control algorithms are reviewed systematically. The different control and switching systems are categorized as follows: Sliding Mode Control (SMC) schemes, feedback control schemes, fuzzy logic control, artificial neural network, pulse width modulation, and space vector modulation. The simulation results are carried out using SMC for DFIG-WECS that shows the robustness of the proposed system, compared to conventional proportional integral (PI) system under symmetrical transmission line faults.
