Abstract

AbstractTwo different types of low‐pass filters, including the waffle‐iron and the tapered corrugated waveguide filter, are designed at the same frequency band to provide an in‐depth vision of their superiorities and applications. The wide‐band nature of these structures finds applications in satellite communications which needs low‐loss filters. Both filters are built and measurements are performed. Multipaction simulations are also performed. Good agreement is observed between simulation and measurement results. Specifications of them such as size, spurious‐free region, power handling, and multipactor are presented in the comparative data and examinations.
