Abstract

Objective: We conducted this study to compare the hemodynamic effects of propofol-ketamine combination as induction agents to propofolthiopentone combination. An interventional comparative study was carried out at S Methods: anthiram medical college, Nandyal. 50 ASA 1 and 2 patients in the age group of 18-50 years, undergoing elective surgery under general anaesthesia were enrolled for this study and were randomly allotted into two groups (A and B) of 25 each. Group A was induced with propofol-thiopentone and Group B was given propofol-ketamine combination. The hemodynamic parameters- heart rate, systolic, diastolic and mean arterial pressures were monitored starting from baseline up to 10 minutes. There was a signicant decrease in systolic blood pressure (p<0.05) i Results: n group A at 4 and 7 min compared to group B. There was signicant increase in pulse rate in group A at 1,4,7 and 10 minutes after intubation (p<0.05).Diastolic and mean arterial pressures were comparable in both the groups. Administration of ketamine with propofol was comparatively better in maintainin Conclusion: g the hemodynamic stability after induction as compared to Thiopentone- propofol combination
