Abstract

The characteristics of flexible thrust pad hydrostatic bearings with different flow control devices, such as capillary, orifice and constant flow valves, have been studied. The results of bearing characteristics of circular thrust pad and single-pocket and multipocket rectangular thrust bearing configurations have been presented for various values of the deformation coefficient C ̄ d and restrictor design parameter C ̄ s2 . These results provide a comparative study of the performance of compensated flexible thrust bearing configurations.
