Abstract
1. 1. The movements of sodium and potassium across the wall of large intestine in anaesthetized rabbits have been studied. 2. 2. At colonic level the relationship between the sodium absorption rate and its intraluminal concentration depends on the initial conditions. 3. 3. In caecum or colon, sodium absorption occurs from intraluminal levels lower than the plasma ones. 4. 4. At colonic level, potassium is secreted for concentrations similar to the plasma ones.
