Abstract

In the present study deposition of biocompatible material hydroxyapatite (HAP) on titanium alloy and stainless steel was done by a biomimetic method, which is one of the most convenient methods. The deposition of bioactive material on these specimens was confirmed by X-ray Diffractometer (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) techniques. The corrosion resistance of biomimetic coating was compared with the help of electrochemical corrosion testing w.r.t coated and uncoated samples. From electrochemical corrosion testing, it was confirmed that biomimetic coated samples are more corrosion resistant in comparison to uncoated samples. Analysis of the microstructure/composition and phase formation has been done before and after corrosion testing respectively.
