Abstract

This paper, we presents a comparative study between the Least Mean Square (LMS) and Sample Matrix Inversion (SMI) algorithms and their application to the smart antenna optimization. The performance of the LMS and SMI algorithms is studied by varying its different parameters in beamforming and null steering problems. Null steering along with multiple interference signals is also done. The two algorithms are compared for null depth, multiple interference, maximum sidelobe level and rate of convergence.
