Abstract
Digital communication has dramatically increased. Sending files is one way of communicating. The process of sending files needs to pay attention to the amount of file content and will be related to the size of the file. To overcome these problems can be used data compression techniques. Data compression is a way to reduce the size of the data. In this study, the technique or algorithm used in the data compression process is (s,c)-Dense Code algorithm and Elias Delta Code algorithm. The effectiveness of the algorithm performance is measured using the parameters of Compression Ratio, Ratio of Compression, Space Saving, Bit Rate and Compression Time. Tests were conducted on The Canterbury Corpus file which contains 11 types of files. The test result shows that (s,c)-Dense Code algorithm has a better performance than Elias Delta Code algorithm.
