Abstract

The analysis performed in this paper is based on simulation of indoor positioning in WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network). Positioning is based on RSS (Received Signal Strength) parameter and fingerprinting positioning technique. The positioning algorithms that have been discussed are NN (Nearest Neighbor) and KNN (K Nearest Neighbors) algorithm. Since these algorithms for determining an unknown location of MT (Mobile Terminal) use different metrics to calculate distance in signal space (SSD - Signal Space Distance), in this paper are presented, analyzed and compared eight different metrics. Analysis of positioning results and comparison of different metrics is based on RMSE (Root Mean Squared Error) parameter.
