Abstract

An ultra-wideband (UWB) multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) antenna for 4.5G/5G wearable devices is proposed in this paper. The proposed 2-antenna array has a compact size of 30 × 26 mm2 only. The proposed antenna is formed by integrating feeding strips and coupled-fed slots on the front and back surface respectively. 3.3–10.9 GHz band is covered with reflection coefficient better than −10 dB. One pair of longer C-shaped slots and one pair of shorter C-shaped slots are etched on the ground plane to obtain high isolation (lower than −15 dB) and low envelope correlation coefficient (lower than 0.05). Simulated results such as S-parameters, efficiency, gain, and radiation pattern are discussed, and calculated envelope correlation coefficient (ECC), mean effective gain (MEG), multiplexing efficiency and channel capacity of the proposed antenna are also presented.
